The Money You Waste on a Weekly Basis

All of us want to be richer right? Or if not rich, then most of us would say that we at least want to feel more comfortable with our money and not worry about being able to afford our bills and our rent. That’s a given sure, but the question then is, why do so many people waste such a lot of cash on things that they don’t need to? This is something that has often perplexed me and that doesn’t seem to follow when you look at the kinds of ‘leaks’ in our finances we allow. The only explanations that I can think of are that people are perhaps too lazy (or busy) to do anything about them, or they just don’t realize the alternative options available to them. Here then I will list several different ways that you can plug those leaks and stay afloat by saving on lots of your regular expenses to the point where it can add up to a large amount of savings.

Coupons: First of all, you should be using coupons for everything. Basically, coupon websites provide a win, win, win situation for everyone involved. They contact companies and organize deals with them, and in exchange, they promise to bring in a certain amount of custom to make it worthwhile. The businesses then get lots of custom, the websites get lots of traffic and commission, and the customer gets large amounts of money off of their haircuts, their massages, their holidays, their classes, and their meals. So if you’re going out for a meal with your friends then there really is no reason *not* to choose somewhere that is offering coupons and to save money in the process.

Bills: We all have numerous direct debits coming out of our accounts regularly from our electricity bill to our mobile bills, but because they go on behind the scenes without our awareness, there is the very real threat that we don’t pay proper attention to them and that as a result, we end up losing a lot of money without even noticing.

For instance, there’s a very high chance that you could probably save money on at least one of your bills by changing to a different provider so it’s worth shopping around. Likewise, there’s a high chance that you could save on things like electricity by turning off lights or by using energy-saving appliances.

Premium Products: When you head to the supermarket then you have a choice of many different brands on all your products and foods. When you buy detergent or pasta you can normally find the same thing under a different name for several different prices. Now sometimes it’s worth buying the name brands – for instance, I implore you to ensure you always buy good quality mayonnaise. However, when it comes to something like pasta, detergent, foil, kitchen roll, etc. is there really any need to pay an extra pound? Buy Tesco’s own or the equivalent and over time you’ll save a lot of moolah.

Spare Change: If you are wasting your spare change by leaving it in a pile on the table then it’s time to start saving it up and putting it toward something. You’d be surprised but you can probably save $50 or more a month by just putting it in a jar. That’s $600 a year – or a holiday.
